A VISIT to the hairdresser’s is a real treat with customers looking forward to being transformed, treated and pampered so they shine from head to toe.

Our new feature – Meet The Salon Owner – gives Warrington business owners and managers the chance to shine a spotlight on their salon and showcase some of their best work.

Here 29-year-old Kayleigh Louise Edwards from Great Sankey, who owns Kayleigh Louise Hair and Beauty Salon on Martin Avenue, tells us how the Covid-19 pandemic led to online hair tutorials and a whole host of new clients when lockdown restrictions ended and why she took inspiration from a trip to the other side of the world when she decided to open her own salon.

Why did you decide to open your own salon?

I decided to open my own salon when I moved back from Australia. Living on the other side of the world made me realise that if I can move to Australia then I can do anything. I wanted to make my salon like the ones I worked in when I was abroad.

What’s your hair and beauty background?

I have been a hairdresser since I left school and have been in the industry for 14 years.

Why this type of business?

I chose this business because I like making people happy and giving them confidence. Seeing clients at the end of their treatment is amazing and the feedback is great.

How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect the business?

I had my ups and downs during the pandemic. I made online tutorials and sold my own products on my Instagram and Facebook pages. It was a big success and post Covid-19 we welcomed lots of new customers to the salon.

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?

The atmosphere in our salon is something that clients always comment on. We make every single person who walks through the door feel welcome and part of the Kayleigh Louise family. Customers love the Kayleigh Louise collection, which are products that work for your hair but are still affordable. We also offer silent appointments for clients that feel anxious about coming into the salon.

Why do loyal clients return to your salon?

We believe customers return because they are happy with our services and they feel comfortable in the salon.

What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?

We have something big coming in the next few months which was always my five-year-goal. We will be sharing news with everyone soon. We are also planning to expand our branded hair collection.
