AT last Steve Grant (letters Guardian, August 24) has a good and sensible idea with regards to the Parr Hall.
As an active member of Centenary Theatre Company, I can wholeheartedly agree with the ideas Mr Grant puts forward with regards to the use of Mr Smith's.
If Mr Smith's is to close, it would be a tragic mistake to let it be demolished and the land used for yet more flats.
We, like Codys, have had to move to The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn, which is a multi-purpose venue.
This is exactly what Warrington needs, a multi-purpose venue, just like Salford (the Lowry) and Runcorn (the Brindley).
As I am not originally from Warrington I was unaware of what was Crosfield's theatre, what happened to it?
From what I have been told, it fell into disrepair and was knocked down.
What I do know is that now there is nothing but wasteland where it once stood.
Why was so much money put into the Pyramid?
It is not a good use of space and is certainly not versatile enough to be used as a proper theatre.
Warrington is changing shape, so we keep hearing, what with the new bus station and the redevelopment of the Golden Square, why can't we have a decent multi-purpose venue which can be used by everyone?
