I WOULD like to raise the issue of shopping trolleys in the area of Birchwood.
I am aware that in recent times, Birchwood Town Council has stopped collecting discarded shopping trolleys from our community. There seems to be a political disagreement regarding a refused application for a shopping trolley on-site collect and return facility and Asda's refusal to pay increased costs to the town council for its collection - a political fall out which is detrimental to our community.
I would like to know what methods Asda is now using to collect trolleys that have been left on street corners, in bushes and throughout Birchwood?
I am tired of the continuing sight of shopping trolleys being left and not collected by Asda.
These trolleys look untidy and are also, during the summer holidays, an apparently exciting and very dangerous toy for youngsters.
The area is now becoming so littered with shopping trolleys that it makes living here very unpleasant.
The cost to Asda must be a concern to the management of the store as well as the community.
I would also make a plea to residents of Birchwood to take some pride and care in your area and stop leaving shopping trolleys throughout the areas that you live.
