I WAS disgusted to read in the Guardian that council bosses were considering closing the tourist information centre in the bus station.
It is my understanding that the council wants people to use public transport more. The bus station is the hub of the wheel and the information centre provides the vital spokes from which the public can access information, which could lead to more use of our public transport system to visit the places of interest advertised.
The centre is ideally situated for people visiting the town via public transport.
Obviously, Peter Taylor does not use public transport so perhaps a day spent in the centre would show him just how much people use this facility.
