DRIVING past Wyevale Garden Centre on the A57 a couple of weeks back, I was quite shocked to see three dead magpies literally lying on the chevrons of the main road, then amazingly again last weekend at the very same spot, there were four more.
I know it is a busy road, but it is strange to imagine these intelligent birds being victims of a hit-and-run. I do not think so. Maybe it was a suicide pact or some sacrificial culling – who knows. Do you?
