I FOUND Guardian readers’ response to the appeal to raise money for little Bobby Brown extremely uplifting.

In these days of economic strife it was very heartening to see people still finding it within their hearts to donate cash so quickly to help this little boy.

For years now we’ve been taken for a ride by selfish people working in the banking industry, who have been motivated by their own egos and sense of greed and it is them we have to thank for the current recession, with people losing their jobs and savings.

If any good has come out of the situation it is this: we might see a return to a more caring society, where neighbourliness is put before personal gain.

I think we got a glimpse of this with the Bobby Brown fund.

It has restored my faith in human nature. Well done!
