After reading last week’s Guardian and seeing how much the people of warrington were willing to help to raise £50,000 to help baby Bobby Brown I thought that maybe the people of Warrington would be just as willing to help Chris Berry, pictured, who is often seen on Chester Road.
After making a few phone calls, I found an alcohol rehabilitation detox centre that can take Chris in for 12 weeks and try to get him off alcohol and, if successful, they will also try to rehouse him once he is alcohol-free for just £6,440.
It’s clear that many people in Warrington are fond of Chris after looking on his Facebook group but I think the best way we could help him is to try to raise some money as a community to give him this last shot to try to get his life back on track.
I am aware that Chris has an ASBO until May, and I hope there is a way that all of us in Warrington can help him as it seems that we are waiting for the inevitable to happen if he is left.
I know that Chris is no angel but surely he deserves a chance?
I hope that you can consider placing an article in the paper where people can donate money to the ‘Chris Berry Fund’ and as a town we can do it together.
