IF residents of Warrington need any warnings of what is to come, take a look at the situation in Daresbury at the minute.
Hundreds of new homes being built – some already finished – on green land, ruining the views of the canal.
Now comes the real pain though. Work has started on Chester Road to make sure the roads are able to service these new homes.
This is done, of course, after the development is built and not before.
The worst bit? Well, of course, Chester Road is now down to one lane for the next year.
Have you tried travelling down there lately? It is in an almost permanent state of paralysis, queues and jams constantly. Turning to head towards Runcorn is a nightmare.
So, when the council says it has confidence that the road network is able to cope with the extra traffic from building thousands of homes in south Warrington, I would question that.
Wait until London Road or Knutsford Road has similar work done. It will be even worse.
