THE rusty condition of the bridges over Manchester Ship Canal is an absolute disgrace.
Their apparent abandoned state speaks volumes of the irresponsible attitude being shown towards the community by their owners, messrs Peel Ports.
These bridges for years were always kept freshly painted.
While I understand there may be issues to be overcome regarding the three swing bridges, should they need to be closed to traffic for a limited period.
What can be the excuse for Peel Ports for not painting Cantilever Bridge and Warburton Toll Bridge, which are both fixed bridges?
As residents are aware, the Manchester Ship Canal bridges are very prominent structures within our environment.
Their current, appalling, rusty condition in an embarrassment, particularly as so many people visit the north west.
