IT seems amazing that Warrington Golf Club is denied a modest extension by Warrington Borough Council planners due to the impact on the green belt.
Yet there are plans to build 4,200 houses across all the fields between Stretton and Grappenhall.
The Warrington Golf Club proposals would support an ongoing business and sporting venue.
The 4,200 houses will permanently change the character of south Warrington.
On the 4200 houses, the council reply (Warrington Guardian, October 31) about transport seems full of vague promises and grand statements – no detail, no funding, no timescales.
How can we have any confidence that any policy positions will not be whittled away by developers once they get planning approval?
Or, that infrastructure will not arrive 10 years or so after the houses, as happened in Chapelford?
