I REFERENCE your article in the Warrington Guardian (October 10) regarding the plans for the former Packet House.
Surely I cannot be the only Warringtonian to wish the clock turned back 50 years, and that the Packet House re-opened as a public house.
This pub is as much of historic value to the River Mersey as it is to the heritage of Warrington as a town.
We have seen the restoration of other historic pubs such as The Kings Head, The Hop Pole, Lower Angel and Blue Bell.
Warrington town centre needs to become a ‘go-to’ destination for heritage buffs and tourists alike.
The late Gerry Marsden’s beloved River Mersey should provide pleasure trips from Warrington, as well as from The Pier Head at Liverpool.
