MAY I through your paper please bring concerns about the new registry office in the new council offices.
On my late wife’s birthday, July 27, 2024, my youngest daughter got married.
Due to only what I can deem poor planning, there is no drop-off point for the bridal party or in fact anyone with mobility issues.
I am 86 and have issues nowadays with walking.
We had to park on level four of the multi-storey car park, cross a busy road, up one flight of steps, followed by another, walk a bit further, then down a set of steps, walk the full length of the building to the entrance.
To say I was poufagged (old Lancashire term for knackered) is an understatement.
Why oh why was a designated drop-off point not created on Bridge Street, opposite The Feathers Hotel maybe?
This is only about 20 yards away – a significantly more manageable journey.
Also, what about brides who want to arrive in style in a horse and carriage or stretched limo etc?
This is really irritating, especially when you see the council and the town planners spending public money on useless schemes such as Lovely Lane/Bewsey Road debacle.
The resulting pain and discomfort after my journey spoilt my time at the wedding reception and took me days to recover.
Secondary, on the subject of the actual registrar’s office, the room and modern surroundings were lovely, but the bride’s entrance was spoilt by walking into her guests congregated in the waiting area.
Please, please Warrington Borough Council re-consider this and ensure guests are moved into the wedding room so the bride can retain an aura of mystery before her grand entrance.
