WHILE so many historic buildings in our town lie crumbling, we seem to have no problem building huge new ones.

I am talking about plans for another large block of apartments on Winwick Street (Warrington Guardian, July 17).

Of course we need new housing, but can’t we protect what we have?

The beautiful Bay Horse pub was knocked down a few years back on Winwick Street.

The Packet House remains shamefully declining at the bottom of Bridge Street.

When will we learn to love what we have in this town?

Save the non-descript tower blocks for Manchester and Liverpool.
