LETTER: Why do a large number of cyclists in Warrington ignore the Highway Code
Why do a large number of cyclists seem to ignore the highway code?
I often see the riders calmly go through red lights and weave between cars, hop on and off pavements with no lights and ride down one way streets the wrong way.
I’m aware there are many sensible riders but amazed there are not more serious accidents. As I see it the car driver will be blamed for any accident involving a cyclist.
If however the cyclist behaves as if there are no rules for them how is the motorist meant to avoid accidents. I follow all road safety regulations.
It’s only luck and good brakes that have prevented many close calls from these irresponsible riders. Something should be done but I don’t know what.
