I AM a recently retired nurse, and looking for something to keep me occupied, I decided to look into volunteering at Warrington Hospital.
I was staggered to find that I would have to pay to park on the site.
The shifts are four hours long at a charge of £3.50.
Now having worked for the NHS for 47 years, I would have gladly volunteered for four shifts per week, but not at a cost to me of £56 per month.
The volunteers are apparently being advised to park in the surrounding streets, which has always been discouraged by the trust.
I’m afraid that, now being on a pension, I cannot afford to be a volunteer.
