I REFER to your article regarding research stating that there are 2.2 rats per adult in Warrington (Warrington Guardian, December 17).
This is no surprise given the state of our town centre and outlying estates.
The town centre is ridden with light refreshments houses and restaurants whose owners do not take responsibly to cleaning up litter and waste outside their premises front and rear.
The amount of homeless people rummaging through bins and skips throughout the town.
The irresponsible home owners flytipping in the rear alleys of their homes.
Perhaps the most significant cause is since Warrington Borough Council dropped the weekly bin collection several years ago.
