I REFER to two articles in the July 19 edition of the Warrington Guardian on the Local Life Penketh page.

I was flabbergasted to read the article entitled Youth trouble is a lot worse' quoting Clr Eileen Dempsey and how, without foundation, she has come to the conclusion that youth problems in Hood Manor are, in her words, really, really bad'.

Clr Dempsey has based her derogatory remarks about the youth and community of Hood Manor on a single night out with Cheshire Police and she has come to her biased conclusions that fellow residents of Warrington, who live in Penketh are, for want of better words, lucky to be in Penketh.

If residents wish to complain about issues within their area then they can. Clr Dempsey should embrace dialogue with the community that she has been elected to support instead of pontificating to Penketh residents not to shout. What do you think, residents of Penketh?

What I would like to know from Councillor Dempsey is; how have you concluded that Hood Manor is really, really bad' in comparison to Honiton Way and other areas in the town? Show me your evidence that youth trouble is worse in Hood Manor.

What problems did you discover on your night out with the police and what was it you saw from the rear seat of a vehicle, or did you walk about the Hood Manor area asking views of residents like our parish councillors do?

What are you doing to help the youth of your area to stop them causing problems?

Clr Dempsey should have read the article below, entitled Youth given police curfew' as it reports that the biggest troublemaker has been given a curfew. This youth is not from the Hood Manor area but is from her area.

Youths are youths. They need guidance; what they do not need is to be told that they are bad in one area compared to another, because remarks like that tar all the youths of our town.
