ON Thursday, June 28, at around 6.15am my husband and I and our two guide dogs were having our daily walk from Stockton Heath to Warrington.

While walking along Wilderspool Causeway I received a head injury after colliding with the fence at the building site. Although it was a small cut there was a lot of blood.

A very kind man who lived nearby took his dogs home then returned to assist us. He called an ambulance and stayed with my husband and our two dogs while the ambulance crew took me on board to clean the wound.

I was taken, along with my husband and the dogs, to casualty at Warrington Hospital, where a doctor glued my wound.

Later that evening I telephoned Warrington Borough Council out of hours emergency line to report the incident. Staff were very helpful and said someone would go and check to make sure the fence had been made safe.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved, their kindness and assistance were much appreciated.

Also, on Saturday, June 30, at 10am my husband and dog Weaver were walking from Stockton Heath to Wilderspool Causeway. Unfortunately, en route there was broken glass on the footpath and Weaver got a piece of glass stuck in one of his back paws. Thankfully a couple who were passing in their car saw what had happened and stopped to assist. We are very grateful for the quick reaction of that man who removed the glass from Weaver's foot. We again telephoned Warrington Council out of hours emergency line. Staff assured us that someone would be sent to clear the glass.

It would be very helpful and much appreciated if the public could kindly ring the council to report any hazards which could be a problem for blind people and especially broken glass on the footpath which is a risk to guide dogs.
