NEED to express my sheer horror that Warrington’s MPs voted to bomb Syria.
I have always believed in a democratic system and when the Tories entered government with less than 40 per cent of the UK vote that belief was severely tested.
I thought we had no option but to live under their ‘dictatorship’ for many years.
Then came Jeremy Corbyn.
Labour voters felt hope they had not seen since pre Tony Blair.
He has already been a big part of forcing Government turnarounds on tax credits and other parts of their horrific welfare act.
However, one man and the minority of down-to earth working Labour politicians who believe in the same ethos cannot change a whole party and I think we saw that in the voting for the bombing on Wednesday night.
Most polls in the country say 80 per cent of UK people did not want the bombing of Syria.
Yet when giving reasons for their vote many MPs didn’t even mention their constituents’ views.
One Tory MP even stated that 90 per cent of his constituents didn’t want the bombing but he was going with his own view.
I thought MPs were supposed to represent the people. Warrington is a Labour stronghold and I’m a member of the Labour party, I was not approached for my view.
I sent messages to Helen Jones expressing my horror at bombing Syria.
I asked how she was going to vote and I was ignored.
A reply to someone on her Facebook page stated they need to write to her with proof of their address before her decision was disclosed.
She was retweeting other MPs who were supporting the bombing and had a photo of her empty surgery saying ‘look how many were at the planned anti-war event’.
Now I find my own Labour MP had voted for bombing Syria along with the Tories.
Did she represent the views of the people of Warrington? If so, I stand corrected and I will be the angry minority that was totally against the escalation of this horror.
Helen Jones only has ‘nice things’ said about her on this page.
Therefore, if you are looking for answers on why she voted for war without even asking your opinion, go to the Warrington Guardian. It has an article you can comment on without being deleted.
