I WAS interested to read the news that Warrington could be about to
open a new heritage centre (Warrington Guardian, November
26).
I have long thought more could be done to benefit the residents of this town and this seems like a sensible plan.
The mix of the museum and the library has always been slightly odd
and it has been more difficult to find the section based just on
Warrington in the library.
So a new revamped section that will allow visitors to find out about
their own history of the town has to be welcomed.
It will be interesting to see where the library ends up – (the heart of the town centre is not very specific – whatever it means).
But after all the bad publicity earlier this year when it was claimed Warrington was so poor for heritage could finally be doing some good.
If it helps the museum and library get this much-needed grant then maybe it could have been a blessing in disguise.
Good luck to all those behind the bid.
I shall be watching its progresswith great interest over the coming years.
