I THINK it's about time the Council reconsider the bus lane outside Tesco on Winwick Road.

Hopefully, they will come to a common sense decision and decide to scrap the bus lane altogether.

I would imagine hundreds of people in the Warrington area have used this direct route out of the town with frustration and disbelief and asked themselves, why?

The bus lane is for such a small stretch of road and causes two lanes to merge into one that, at rush hour causes long tailbacks every day. Even on quiet days, it can be dangerous as vehicles from the inside lane have to pull into the outside lane to avoid the bus lane.

I can understand that there is the need for bus lanes in appropriate situations but surely this is not one of them.

I am of the understanding that this stretch of bus lane formed part of the original plans linking Winwick Road with Winwick Street but the bus route is not even used.

Not only is it serving no purpose but it is causing traffic chaos for the people of Warrington every day.

I hope those who have the influence to remove this bus lane attend to the location and see for themselves.
