Last Monday I sat in on one of Scrapadoo’s classes, run by the owner Hilary, that are based in Moulton, Northwich and learned about the types of classes that her business offers.
Hilary offers a variety of different classes on a range of crafts, such as: sewing, needle felting, Christmas wreaths and creating pillow cases from recycled fabrics around the house.
The workshop was beautifully decorated by different crafts made by students and Hilary, all proudly displayed on the walls.
All of Scrapadoo’s materials come from contributors in the local community, for example the seasonal craft materials that come from one of her neighbours who kindly provides cuttings from their pine tree.
Her classes are available for all ages too, “from the classes for ages I teach for 7-15 to all ages in the community centre classes, there’s really no age I don’t teach.”
After I observed the class, Hilary told me that:
“I always want to create a safe environment to make mistakes, both for new and experienced sewers, it’s really lovely to see them gain confidence in their skills.”
The student’s in the class were very keen to learn about how to create the crafts and felt comfortable asking questions on how to improve their techniques at home too.
Overall I was very grateful to be able to join in on the fun at Scrapadoo and I would absolutely recommend the experience to anyone who has an interest in any of the creative classes that they offer.
