September 1st, a business-sponsored rubber duck race was held at the Warrington Rowing Club
The sponsored rubber ducks were then released at 2pm and followed by the small ducks at 3pm.
In the meantime, fair rides, food stalls, and other craft stalls, provided by the sponsors, were made available to the public from 12pm.
Ducks were also made accessible to purchase for £1 each.
Businesses, such as Slimming World, the Albion, and the Howley Pub, provided their support by funding the event, with all the proceeds going to the Warrington Pyjama Appeal.
Before the event, The Howley Pub managed to raise £100 for the charity.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr. Mo. Hussain opened the event alongside Warrington North MP, Charlotte Nichols, who provided a hand in retrieving the ducks afterwards.
Despite the threat of rain and lightning, there was a large turnout in Warrington this year, with many ducks competing.
Events of this nature take place throughout England every year, but recently, places like Wilberfoss, are seeing a lack of interest in their duck races and the tradition is dying down.
The event returned to Lymm earlier this year after a three-year hiatus due to covid and proved to be a great success.
