With the spooky season upon us, the arrival of trick-or-treaters poses the question: Is Halloween more of a trick than a treat?

This yearly cohort of trick-or-treaters will do their rounds tonight.

While many neighbourhoods might sit in complete darkness, a few houses will be decorated from top to bottom in the spookiest of themes.

Unfortunately, Halloween isn’t as well accepted or celebrated by some as it is by others.

In the Locking Stumps area, some residents are very welcoming of trick-or-treaters.

Louise Wakefield, a local resident and staff member at Locking Stumps Community Primary School, said, “It’s fantastic seeing everyone dressed up—there were some amazing costumes last year!

We get a lot of trick-or-treaters in our area because of our proximity to the school, but it’s brilliant to see, the more, the merrier!”

Other residents, however, can be a bit less enthusiastic.

Rowan Gibson, a resident of the Leigh area, said, “As long as they aren’t causing any problems, it’s okay. But we’ve had some in the past who ruin the fun.”

Halloween can also be dangerous, with many people dressed in dark clothing.

So, make sure to stay safe and always go out accompanied.
