WARRINGTON Wolves' wait for a Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel winner will stretch into a 31st year.

That is after full-back Matt Dufty missed out on the award having been named on the three-man shortlist earlier this month following a stellar season alongside Mikey Lewis and Marc Sneyd.

However, the award went to Hull KR's England international half-back Lewis, who was honoured for inspiring the Robins to a first ever Super League Grand Final.

It means there has still been no Warrington winner of the most prestigious individual honour in the northern hemisphere game during the Super League era, with their last winner being Jonathan Davies back in 1994.

The only previous Warrington winner of the award before Davies was Ken Kelly, who took home the prize in 1981.

Dufty's Wire teammate Matty Nicholson also missed out on the Super League Young Player of the Year award ahead of his departure to join NRL side Canberra Raiders for next year.

The 21-year-old back-rower was short-listed for the second season in a row but having lost out to teammate Josh Thewlis last year, the award went to Wigan Warriors forward Junior Nsemba this time around.

There was a win for former Warrington head coach Daryl Powell, who was named as the Championship Coach of the Year having led Wakefield Trinity to top spot in the second tier.
