RIGHTLY or wrongly, it is a decision Warrington Wolves’ semi-final loss to Hull KR will be remembered by.

The fall-out from the decision by referee Liam Moore to send Joe Burgess’ barge-over effort to video referee Jack Smith as a try on the field – meaning the latter had little option but to award the try – will no doubt rumble on among Wire fans for some time.

And the response from the man who benefitted from it will do little to quell their anger.

Burgess was interviewed by Sky Sports after the game as he and his teammates celebrated their 10-8 victory, which put them into the Super League Grand Final for the first time ever, and was asked by presenter Brian Carney if he felt he had got the ball down.

His response was “Yes. Next question” before imitating his nose growing akin to Disney character Pinocchio amid laughter.

He then added: "Who knows? I definitely brushed the floor – whether it was on the line I don't know."

Having made his on-field call, Moore was surrounded by Warrington players questioning his decision.
