TOBY King will be the next Warrington Wolves player to celebrate his Testimonial year, it has now been confirmed.

The club have announced their centre has been granted a 12-month Testimonial by the RFL for 2025 and, as is custom, several events in his honour will be held throughout the year.

They will include a Testimonial match at The Halliwell Jones Stadium prior to the start of next season, which will see The Wire wear a special kit.

For a man whose career at the club appeared to be over as recently as last year, the news caps an incredible comeback for the man who progressed through the club’s academy to make his first-team debut against London Broncos in 2014.

Since then, he has made 164 appearances for the club and scored 64 tries, including two in Saturday’s eliminator victory over St Helens.

King returned to Warrington this year having spent the previous 18 months out on loan – he won last year’s Grand Final during his season with Wigan Warriors having finished the 2022 campaign at hometown club Huddersfield Giants.

Now, though, he says he has relished being a part of the squad under head coach Sam Burgess and is looking forward to celebrating his special year with them.

“I can’t believe from arriving here as a 16-year-old boy who had just left high school that I would be celebrating a Testimonial at this great club,” he said.

“From Tony Smith giving me my debut to being coached by one of the greats in Sam Burgess, it’s been one hell of a rollercoaster and I’m loving being part of this special group.

“I want to thank all my team-mates and coaches over the years, my family for their sacrifices which have enabled me to live my dream of playing rugby and also the Warrington fans, who have been incredible to me since I first arrived at the club.

“I’m immensely proud and I’m excited for the year ahead.”

King helped Warrington lift the Challenge Cup in 2019 and the League Leaders’ Shield in 2016, while he has also appeared in two Super League Grand Finals for the club and another Wembley final in 2018.

King has named the Warrington Wolves Foundation as one of the chosen charities for his Testimonial year, with others to be announced.

“I’m really pleased for Toby to have been granted a Testimonial year,” Wire chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick.

“He’s a player who fought hard as a teenager to earn his spot in the first team having progressed through our academy and he has now established himself a decade later as one of the best centres in the game.

“Toby is heavily involved in the community and is always generous with his time, making him a really popular figure amongst supporters.

“I’m excited to see what he can achieve on and off the field for the rest of this season and the year ahead.”
