THE inclement weather did not stop some of Warrington’s best bowlers from battling it out for the Peter Lawrenson Memorial Trophy on Saturday.

And after some intense competition at St Albans Bowling Club, it was Jack Bushell who won through to take home the trophy and cash prize.

Bushell prevailed in a tight final against Phil Clapham, edging through via a 21-20 scoreline having earlier beaten Chris Ward (21-15), Aidy Denton (21-14) and Paul Garrett (21-14).

Clapham reached the final by beating Larry Wells 21-8 in the semis having edged out Kevin Wilcox 21-18 in the last-eight following an opening 21-14 win over Dave Bennett.

Dan Woodwood claimed the prize for the highest break on finals day with a break of 12.
