IF, as expected, he features for Warrington Wolves against St Helens on Saturday, it will be a special day for Ben Currie.

For The Wire’s long-serving forward, who has successfully reinvented himself at loose forward this year, is on the brink of two appearance milestones.

His next Super League game will be the 250th he has played in the competition, with all 249 of them coming in Warrington colours after making his debut as a 17-year-old against Widnes Vikings all the way back in April 2012.

His next appearance will also be the 300th of his career overall and given he only turned 30 in July and that his current Wire contract still has two more seasons to run, there is scope for plenty more yet.

Of the 299 career games he has played, 281 have been for Warrington with his only other club games coming courtesy of three appearances on dual-registration for Swinton Lions in 2013 and 2014.

The other 15 games came on the international stage and having been named in Shaun Wane’s extended squad for the season-ending Test series against Samoa this morning, he is well placed to add to his 11 England caps.

He also made three appearances for Ireland during the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, while he turned out once for England Knights in 2012.
