WARRINGTON Wolves will have to do without prop Paul Vaughan for the foreseeable future after the Match Review Panel's ruling on his sending-off against Leigh Leopards was confirmed.

A three-match suspension has been handed down to the Australian as well as a £250 fine after his tackle on Leigh's Owen Trout was deemed a Grade D head contact offence upon further review.

Warrington do hold the option to contest the charge but as things stand, Vaughan will not be available until the play-offs begin and The Wire will have to tackle their final three regular-season games - home fixtures against St Helens and London Broncos either side of a trip to Huddersfield Giants - without him.

Vaughan was dismissed by match referee Liam Moore in the 10th minute at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night after receiving advice from video referee Ben Thaler after his tackle on Trout after the restart following Leigh's opening try.

Vaughan's was not the only card shown during the 16-12 loss for Sam Burgess' men - former Wire skipper Jack Hughes was sin binned for making contact to the head during the second half but the panel have deemed that incident unworthy of further punishment.

Hughes has also escaped punishment for the alleged "crusher" tackle on Josh Thewlis that was put on report by Moore just after he had returned to the field.

Elsewhere, Friday's opponents St Helens will have skipper Jonny Lomax available for Saturday's game at The Halliwell Jones Stadium despite him picking up a Grade B dangerous contact charge for an incident during Saints' win at Huddersfield Giants.

The charge carries only a £250 fine, meaning Lomax is free to face Warrington at the weekend.
