WARRINGTON Wolves will have to negotiate some crucial matches in the near future without prop James Harrison.

Following his sending-off against St Helens on Friday, the prop has been handed a two-match suspension and a £250 fine by the Match Review Panel.

The Wire do hold the option to contest the charge - something they did successfully earlier this month to overturn a one-match ban handed to Harrison for dangerous contact during the victory over Huddersfield Giants - but it is understood they have decided against doing so on this occasion.

As such, Harrison will be missing for Friday's trip to Super League leaders Wigan Warriors and the home game against Hull KR on August 2.

The England international was dismissed by match referee Chris Kendall following a clash with Saints prop Noah Stephens.

The game had been stopped for both men to be treated following the collision, with Harrison due to be brought off for a head injury assessment, but in that time, video referee Liam Moore assessed the incident and advised Kendall that Harrison's shoulder had made direct contact with his opponent's head with no mitigation.

The incident was deemed a Grade D head contact offence which could have carried a suspension of up to three matches, but Harrison has been handed a suspension at the lowest end of the scale.

The Wire front-rower is the only player to be banned following the Round 18 fixtures, with the three other charges handed out only carrying fines.

Leigh Leopards centre Ricky Leutele, London Broncos forward Sadiq Adebiyi and Salford Red Devils packman Shane Wright have all been handed £250 fines having been charged with Grade B dangerous contact.
