MATT Dufty has moved closer to the leading contenders for the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award.

At present, the Warrington Wolves full-back is firmly in contention for Super League’s top individual honour and boosted his chances by earning another three points this weekend.

Dufty’s two tries – including a dramatic late winner – during the victory at Hull FC earned him Sky Sports’ player of the match award and he has also been awarded maximum points by the attending Man of Steel voting panel member.

It moves his overall total onto 15 points, which is three behind the current lead of Salford Red Devils scrum-half Marc Sneyd.

Dufty is tied for third spot with Salford centre Nene Macdonald, with Leigh Leopards’ Matt Moylan a point behind Sneyd on 17.

George Williams has earned two points for his display, which including a stylish assist for Dufty’s first try at the MKM Stadium.

The remaining point on offer for the Round 15 clash in East Yorkshire went to Hull’s former Wire academy hooker Denive Balmforth, who scored an interception try against his former club early in the second half.
