A ‘GUTTED’ Joe Bullock says a second loser’s medal makes him ever more determined to lift a trophy for Warrington.

The big prop won his battle to be picked for Wire’s clash with derby rivals Wigan at Wembley.

He was given the nod by coach Sam Burgess to replace the injured Joe Philbin.

But he said picking up a losing medal for the second times simply makes him more determined to be on the winning side next time he appears on the sport’s biggest stage.

“I have played in two finals now and lost both of them so I want to win one. I felt confident coming in to this week. It didn’t work out for us but I want to flip that,” he said.

“The biggest thing for this group is that we are ambitious and we learn from this for the rest of the season.”

Along with the rest of the team, he was gutted in the immediate aftermath of the final.

He said: “It is raw emotion in a game like this.

“We didn’t give ourselves a full chance, you always get full effort with us but we didn’t help ourselves.

“Wigan did what they needed to do to win the game, so congratulations to them. But we need to learn the lessons and apply it to the rest of the season.

“We are on a journey, we said it at the start of the season and we are still on it. It has been a great occasion with the atmosphere but it stinks to be on the losing team.

“We have a game again on Friday and it is straight back in the Super League season.”

He said he was delighted to get the nod for selection for the game.

“We have got a really, good, strong side this year and it has been hard at times for me to get consistency in the team. But every time I have gone in there I have worked my hardest and to get the opportunity to play today is something I will look back in with pride.

“But at the moment it is very hard.”
