HAVING not been picked for either of Warrington Wolves' first two Super League games of the year, Brad Dwyer has been allowed to seek first-team minutes elsewhere.

The hooker, who returned to the club in the off-season after seven years away, has joined Leigh Leopards on an initial two-week loan deal.

Leigh have been looking for options at hooker after star dummy-half Edwin Ipape picked up an injury during their Round One defeat to Huddersfield Giants and their attentions have turned to Dwyer, who was pushed further down the pecking order at his new club by the arrival of Sam Powell from Wigan Warriors.

Dwyer is eligible to make his Leopards debut when Adrian Lam's side visit St Helens on Friday.

“I’m delighted to welcome Brad to our club and would like to thank Sam Burgess and the Warrington club for enabling this move," Leigh's head of rugby Chris Chester said.

“With Edwin Ipape sustaining an injury in the opening game, Brad will strengthen our options in a vital position.

“Brad is a skilful and dynamic player who will easily fit into our systems and this loan spell will benefit all parties. I am looking forward to seeing him in a Leopards jersey.”

Having rejoined from Hull FC in a return to the club whose academy he progressed through, Dwyer has not even been named in the 21-man squad for both of Warrington's competitive games so far.

He did appear in both pre-season friendlies, starting the victory over Widnes Vikings before coming off the bench in Joe Philbin's Testimonial match against his new loan club.
