GEORGE Williams will miss Warrington Wolves' Round Two clash with Hull FC - and could be missing for some time.

Despite being named in The Wire's 21-man squad for the game on Wednesday, the England captain is not included in the final matchday 17 to face the Black and Whites tonight having suffered an ankle injury during the Round One defeat to Catalans Dragons.

A full update on Williams' condition is being awaited, but it is understood the injury could keep Wire's star half-back out of action for a number of weeks.

Homegrown half-back Leon Hayes is drafted into the side in his place, and he will start in the halves alongside Josh Drinkwater.

There is another academy graduate brought into the side for the game in the shape of Adam Holroyd, who starts in the back row amid the reshuffle brought about by Jordy Crowther's one-match suspension.

As such, Ben Currie has been named at loose forward - a position in which he has not started for Warrington since way back in 2014.

Currie, Holroyd and Hayes are among seven players named in tonight's 17 who emerged through the club's academy.

There will also be a senior debut tonight as Max Wood - the young forward signed from Wigan Warriors following a successful off-season trial - is named on the bench with Gil Dudson dropping out of the 17.

Paul Vaughan moves into the starting 13 with Zane Musgrove dropping onto the bench while Josh Thewlis returns on the right wing in place of Arron Lindop.
