WARRINGTON Wolves will be among a number of clubs facing a nervous wait for the findings of this week’s Match Review Panel.

The disciplinary charges from Round One are set to be revealed this afternoon and after 13 cards were shown in the first six matches of the season, there may well be several suspensions handed down amid a clampdown on contacts with the head from officials.

Two of those cards came during The Wire’s defeat at Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday evening, including a late sin-binning for Warrington’s Jordy Crowther.

The forward was yellow-carded for a late hit on Dragons forward Julian Bousquet and while George Williams escaped further action for a late high tackle that allowed Arthur Mourgue to kick the game’s final points, the panel could take a dim view.

Catalans’ chief concern surrounds hooker Michael McIlorum, who was sent off by referee Chris Kendall in the opening minute of the second half after a shoulder charge made contact with the head of Wire prop Joe Philbin.

Meanwhile, Warrington’s Round Two opponents Hull FC will be sweating on three of their key forwards who received cards during their derby defeat to Hull KR on Thursday.

New signing Franklin Pele could face a lengthy ban after being sent off for a swinging arm tackle while Ligi Sao was also shown the red card for what was deemed a reactionary knee to the face of Rovers hooker Matt Parcell.

With another new signing in Herman Ese’ese also being shown a yellow card for a high tackle in the first half, former Wire head coach Tony Smith has several concerns as he prepares to lead the Black and Whites back to his old stomping ground.
