ARRON Lindop will make his Super League debut for Warrington Wolves this afternoon.

The 17-year-old has been named to start on the wing for The Wire as they open their 2024 campaign against Catalans Dragons at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, taking the spot that would likely have been occupied by Josh Thewlis, who remains in England after his partner gave birth to their first child on Thursday.

It caps an incredible rise for the former Bridgewater High School student, who shone in his first year at academy level in 2023, scoring 16 tries in 13 appearances across the under 18s and reserve teams.

He was awarded a four-year first-team contract during pre-season and now, he gets the chance to make his Super League bow.

Lindop is one of four debutants in head coach Sam Burgess' first competitive selection as Wire boss, with new signings Zane Musgrove and Lachlan Fitzgibbon named in the starting side while Sam Powell is on the bench.

Perhaps surprisingly, however, Paul Vaughan is named only on the bench with Musgrove and James Harrison the starting front-rowers.

There is also no place in the 17 for club captain Stefan Ratchford, with Connor Wrench and Toby King the chosen two to start at centre.
