DESPITE being hit with a Grade D high contact charge, Connor Wrench has escaped a suspension.
The Warrington Wolves centre was sin-binned during Joe Philbin’s Testimonial match against Leigh Leopards for a high tackle on full-back Gareth O’Brien, and the incident has been deemed worthy of a charge by the Match Review Panel.
Due to a pre-season amnesty on head contacts, however, Wrench has not been issued with a ban despite a Grade D charge normally resulting in a suspension of at least two matches.
He is therefore free to be selected for The Wire’s season opener against Catalans Dragons on February 17.
The same is true for Brad Dwyer, who was also sin-binned for a high tackle against the Leopards and has been handed a Grade B charge.
