THE club Riley Dean will turn out for next year following his move to Australia from Warrington Wolves has now been confirmed.
Mackay Cutters – an affiliate side for NRL outfit North Queensland Cowboys – have confirmed the 22-year-old Wire academy graduate’s signing for the new year after his departure from The Halliwell Jones Stadium was announced earlier this month.
“He is a strong-running and skilful half who continually challenges the opposition defensive line,” the Cutters said in their announcement of Dean’s signing.
“We are looking forward to seeing Riley in action in the Cutters colours in 2024.”
The move means Dean, who made 10 first-team appearances for The Wire after debuting in 2019, will play in the Queensland Cup competition in 2024.
Among the Cutters’ signings for next year are former Super League duo Kenny Edwards and Mahe Fonua, the former of whom was briefly a teammate of Dean’s during the half-back’s loan spell at Castleford Tigers towards the end of 2023.
