SCAN results look set to determine the availability of two Warrington Wolves forwards for this Saturday’s trip to Hull FC.
Hooker Daryl Clark could be a doubt, while plans to bring Joe Bullock back into the 17 for the clash with the Airlie Birds look like they may have been dashed.
“Daryl Clark is having a check on his shoulder today. He took a bit of a knock and I don’t know to the extent of what that is,” said Wolves interim head coach Gary Chambers.
Clark came off the bench in the 24-22 loss to Leeds at Headingley on Sunday, with Danny Walker having started the game at number nine.
Front-rower Bullock has had some time on the sidelines to nurse an injury, although he was named 18th-man in the last two first-team games against Catalans Dragons and Leeds.
Chambers said the plan was to look after him and have him fresh to face Hull alongside the returning Sam Kasiano.
“Joe’s got a thumb injury that he’s been nursing for a long time since he broke it and he was seeing the specialist,” said Chambers.
“The idea was, after having a bit of a break, to give him a bit of a run in the reserves with a view to playing him again this week. But, like with the best laid plans, it’s not panned out well.
“It was a matter of looking after him with his thumb, get him a bit of game time in the reserves, but he’s rolled his ankle a little bit so we’re waiting to see what the results are with that.
“What we’ve had the luxury of being able to do is rotate people around and try to freshen people up. He’s nursed the thumb for a while. I thought with that week off with his thumb, get him back in for 20 to 30 minutes in the reserves to be then ready to go this week.
“The idea was to roll a nice fresh Joe Bullock and Sam Kasiano against Hull, but your best laid plans don’t always work do they?
“He’s there now, getting a scan, and we’ll see what the extent is. Hopefully it’s not that bad.
“Sam Kasiano, similarly. He’s had a sternum injury, a wrist injury and a knee injury, and he looks really healthy for having had a bit of time out and hopefully he can come back in and explode through.
“I’ll look to bring Sam back this week.”
Riley Dean is sidelined while he follows the 12-day concussion protocols having sustained a head injury in the reserves win at Leeds.
