WARRINGTON Wolves fell to an eighth successive defeat when they went down 24-22 against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley

Wolves led for large chunks of the game but were not able to get more than one score ahead, which allowed Leeds to stay on their coat tails and grab the initiative late on.

Tries from Mat Dufty and Matty Ashton gave Wire first-half leads and then another from Stefan Ratchford put his side 16-12 in front after 56 minutes after the skipper missed the conversion.

Luke Hooley's response and Rhys Martin's goal gave Leeds the edge just into the final quarter.

And when James Bentley cashed in on Nene Macdonald's offload, with Martin again converting, Leeds had the all important eight-point lead.

Matty Nicholson touched down from a Josh Drinkwater grubber to leave a nervy finish.

Dufty had the line begging in the final seconds when he chased Ratchford's grubber but spilled the ball.
