SINCE Sam Burgess emerged as a potential candidate for the Warrington Wolves head coaching position, it has created plenty of debate among supporters.

Now the news of his imminent arrival at The Halliwell Jones Stadium has been confirmed, it is fair to say the move has divided opinion.

Burgess has signed a two-year deal to succeed Daryl Powell from next year, with Gary Chambers remaining in interim charge until then before taking up a newly-created director of rugby role.

Here is some of what fans have been saying on social media about Burgess' arrival...

'Warrington Wolves - Warrington Guardian' on Facebook

Colette Ellison: Give him a chance how many have we had that have experience and where have we got. No matter what profession there will be plenty of people that know the job can do the job that doesn’t have experience and potentially be better than the experienced person. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Valerie Hill: Hope it is not a poisoned chalice

Karl Sutton: Back him 100%

Adam Birchall: This some sort of joke? has been in trouble twice over drug use.. accusations of domestic violence. I get experience isn’t always everything in coaching and people need a chance.. but we think he is a good fit?

Ste Reading: Proven winner as a player. Assistant coach at arguably the biggest club in the NRL, also wanted by Wayne Bennett at the Dolphins. Who knows this might just be what we need.

Shazza Langhorne: Initially I was a bit mixed but now I'm like yeah, why not. He's coming to prove himself and show he's ready for a step up and the past has proved we're damned if we do and damned if we don't so lets go for it. We're not privileged enough to have the best coaches in the world banging the door down right now.
