WARRINGTON Wolves are closing in on the re-signing of Brad Dwyer.
Further to reports and rumours of interest in the hooker beginning to circulate on both sides of the Pennines over the weekend, the Warrington Guardian understands talks to bring the 30-year-old back to The Halliwell Jones Stadium are now at an advanced stage.
With Daryl Clark seemingly set on leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract, The Wire were on the lookout for a dummy-half to provide support and competition for Danny Walker, who signed a new deal last week to keep him at the club until 2026.
That has led them to the door of Dwyer, who is out of contract at current club Hull FC at the end of the year and therefore free to discuss a move for 2024 onwards with other clubs.
Despite the Black and Whites making him an offer to remain in East Yorkshire, it appears The Wire have won the race for his services with a deal said to be close to finalisation.
If confirmed, the move would see Dwyer return to the club where his professional career began.
After coming through the club’s academy, Dwyer scored 16 tries in 88 appearances for Warrington having debuted in 2012.
He was part of the squad that won the 2016 League Leaders Shield before leaving in 2017 to join Leeds Rhinos, with whom he won the Challenge Cup in 2020.
He joined Hull FC on a one-year deal for 2023 and has featured in all 12 games for them this season, scoring a try in their defeat to Warrington at The Halliwell Jones Stadium last month.
In total, his career has seen him make more than 250 appearances having also spent time on loan with Swinton Lions, Huddersfield Giants, London Broncos and Featherstone Rovers.
