ENGLAND’S men’s and women’s teams have named their squads for Saturday’s Rugby League World Cup matches in Wigan.

As expected, Warrington Wolves’ George Williams retains his spot in the men’s squad and is expected to line up in the halves in their quarter-final against Papua New Guinea at the DW Stadium.

Having captained the side against Greece on Saturday, Williams is set to drop back into the ranks against the Kumuls as regular skipper Sam Tomkins returns.

Centres Herbie Farnworth and Kallum Watkins also return to the squad.

The women’s side face Canada in the curtain-raiser at the DW Stadium but will do so without Warringtonian forward Jodie Cunningham, who has been left out of the 19-woman squad.

However, Cunningham’s fellow former Cardinal Newman High School pupil Emily Rudge and Penketh’s Tara Jones both retain their spots in the squad following Tuesday’s 72-4 win over Brazil.
