WARRINGTON Wolves returned to winning ways in Round 10 with an ultimately comfortable victory over Hull FC.

Josh Thewlis stole the show by crossing for a hat-trick of tries as well as kicking four out of four goals, meaning 20 of The Wire’s 24 points came from the winger.

George Williams scored the hosts’ other try as they bounced back from last week’s defeat to Salford Red Devils in treacherous conditions at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

They fell short of keeping a clean sheet as Tom Briscoe crossed for a late consolation for the Black and Whites, but Warrington ran out convincing winners.

That came despite Warrington being docked an interchange due to a discrepancy in the submission of their 21-man squad for the game - something head coach Sam Burgess vented his anger about post-match.

Thewlis' first try rewarded a good start for The Wire, who built pressure before a neat right-edge move saw Matt Dufty release the winger into space and he cut inside to touch down.

Williams' try just before half time was perhaps the pivotal score as he finished off a break from half-back partner Josh Drinkwater to slide over in the final seconds of the first half.

And when Thewlis again cut in from the right to cross the line again just after the interval, Warrington were in command.

The hat-trick was completed with another similar effort before the hour mark to all but win the game, but Hull at least had the final say when Briscoe slid over in the right corner.
