WARRINGTON Wolves will play at the top level of women’s rugby league in 2023.
They completed a perfect league season by coming from behind to beat Featherstone Rovers 34-6 in the Betfred Women’s Super League Shield final this afternoon.
Having fallen behind early, Lee Westwood’s side quickly assumed control with four first-half tries putting them in command at St Helens' Totally Wicked Stadium despite having 10 minutes down to 12 players after Amy Daniels' sin-binning.
Player of the match Dani Bound crossed twice in between tries from Amy Johnson and Emily Baggaley, with Michelle Davis converting three of the scores.
After the break, Lauren Roberts and Georgia Sutherland touched down for Wire – both converted by Davis – with the latter’s score her 43rd of a remarkable season.
Jess Dadds’ opener proved to be Featherstone’s only score as Warrington proved too strong.
The finish to the game was delayed after Rovers half-back Olivia Grace required extended treatment for what appeared to be a serious neck injury, eventually leaving the field on a stretcher.
