LUKE Littler stole the show on Day One of the Players Championship Finals as his imperious form continued.

Faced with a tough-looking first-round clash with perennial rival Rob Cross, Warrington's teenage sensation made light work of the former world champion by dispatching him 6-0 on Friday night.

The 17-year-old won his third major title of the year when he was crowned Grand Slam of Darts champion last Sunday after a week of scintillating performances.

And it was still party time at Butlin’s Minehead as he beat Cross in little over 15 minutes.

He was virtually unplayable, averaging a mammoth 112.73, which is the second highest in the tournament’s history.

It is still early days in a relentless format, with multiple matches on Saturday and Sunday, but Littler will be the player to beat on this form.

The former Padgate Academy student will now face European Championship winner Ritchie Edhouse to close the afternoon session today, with the match the last game to be played on the main stage.

Edhouse edged past fellow Englishman Luke Woodhouse via a last-leg shoot-out to book his tie with Littler, with the winner to face either Danny Noppert or Steve Burton in the third round this evening.
