WARRINGTON Town have bolstered their squad as they look to arrest their alarming slide in form.
Midfielder Jak McCourt has joined Paul Carden’s squad, with the 29-year-old arriving on a three-month loan deal from Northern Premier League side Ashton United.
McCourt, who local football fans may remember for a spell with Warrington Rylands during the 2022-23 season, is set to go straight into the squad for Town’s crucial trip to Rushall Olympic – the National League North’s bottom side – tomorrow.
He becomes Town’s third signing in recent weeks, with left-back Jack Hont and forward Elliot Morris having both joined from City of Liverpool.
All three could make their league debuts for the club tomorrow as Yellows look to halt a run of form that has seen them go five games without a goal in all competitions which sees them hovering just a point above the relegation places.
In between leaving Rylands in January 2023 and joining Ashton in the summer, the Liverpudlian was a key part of the Buxton side that established itself as a National League North side, scoring five times in 29 appearances for the Bucks last season.
The vast majority of his career had been spent in the Football League through spells at Northampton Town, Chesterfield and Swindon Town.
McCourt’s addition boosts a midfield that is currently without the experienced Jay Harris through injury, with defender Evan Gumbs pressed into service in a deeper-lying midfield role in recent weeks.
