A NINE-YEAR-OLD Orford boy passionate about gymnastics represented the north west in a national competition.
St Andrews C of E Primary School student Alfie-James Harrison showed his all-round talent while competing in the Men’s Artistic National Setworks Championships at Telford International Centre.
The Wire Gymnastics Club member, who has big dreams in the sport, tackled the rings, pommel horse, floor, vault, high bar and parallel bars, with his scoring helping the north west team to finish fourth.
He was selected on the back of his achievements in September’s regional grades competition, in which he placed sixth in the north west in his category.
In Telford the Orford youngster placed 37th overall in Great Britain, out of up to 3,000 children that would have originally attended the grades within the nine regions.
His mum Chloe said: “We are so immensely proud of him!
“Alfie has been doing gymnastics since he was four years old, after repeatedly asking myself and his dad from being three but we couldn't find a club with him being so young.
“Alfie lives and breathes gymnastics and hopes to one day be an Olympic gymnast and own his own gym as he always says that there isn't enough out there for the boys and wants to change that.”
