ALEX Kiwomya scored five goals for Warrington Rylands in last night’s Liverpool Senior Cup cruise.

Neil Reynolds’ men scored 10 goals in all as lower level Skelmersdale United were sent packing from Gorsey Lane.

But the post-match talk for fans was all about 28-year-old former England youth international Kiwomya, signed three weeks ago from National League North side Farsley Celtic.

The Chelsea youth academy product, who has played in the Football League with spells at Barnsley, Fleetwood Town, Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers, delighted his boss with his inspired showing.

“He’s an exceptional player, a talent,” said Reynolds, speaking after the 10-1 success that also included two goals from Ben Hardcastle and others from Ben Hough, Leslie Adekoya and Sandro Da Costa.

“You only have to look at his CV at where he’s been and what he’s done.

“We’re going to get him to fall back in love with football and when you have a night like Al’s had you do begin to fall back in love with it.”

He added: “Al’s said since he’s come back to the club he’s been loving it.

“He’s been very patient. It was only seven days ago he didn’t even get on the pitch as he was an unused sub.

“You’ve got to challenge yourself in those moments.

“On Saturday (against Ossett United) when he could have scored and he should have scored – he knows that – and he learnt from that and made no mistake tonight.

“You could see his pace, power, his choice of goals with left foot, right foot and one headed.

“Our job is to try and develop him and get him back to the top of his game.”
